Lesson 6 (01.03.06) – 4 hr

Assignment

1) Look at the requirements of your LOGO Creative Blitz so you can consider what you’ll need to do on the project… Here’s an excerpt:

Part 1 | Design a logo for the next INCREDIBLES sequel. Among other things, this logo may be used as a patch on the shirt/chest of the next Superhero to be introduced in INCREDIBLES 2. The logo should look good in gray scale as well as in different sizes. Get screen shots and publish to Behance to show your logo in different sizes and in gray scale. For the logo, you are NOT designing a flyer—keep it simple. Imagine it on the chest of the new superhero’s costume – it will be simple and striking, easily visible and discernable from a distance. It should look good at no more than 200 pixels wide, but also be able to go bigger and look good when needed. Read this to see how you’ll be graded on this project: Grading Rubric-Logo

2) Refer to your character profile that you made during the first week of class. You’ll want to design a logo that makes sense for that character to wear!

Next, log in to PluralSight and go to The Secrets to Designing Great Logos (PluralSight).

Take 1 note per video, except for the following videos where you will create something instead of take a note:

  • For the “Distilling Ideas into Words” video, make a list of words like she does that go with your superhero to help you design his/her logo.

Note: You are doing what the video instructor does EXCEPT you are doing it for your OWN project, not the one she is doing in the demo.

  • For the “Transforming Words into Sketches” video, make a sketch page like hers (digital or on paper) that goes with your superhero logo words. Take a screenshot or photo of this and upload it to a Behance project for the LOGO Design Creative Blitz.
  • For “Refining Sketches into Refined Logos”, create a draft vector logo in Illustrator that you *might* use. Take a screenshot and also upload this to the Logo project in Behance.
  • For “Colorizing the Logo”, create a color version of your draft vector logo. Take a screenshot and also upload this to the Logo project in Behance.
