Lesson 1 (01.05.01) – 3 hr

Assignment

  • Print the Rubric for the Creative Blitz. Do whatever you can in 3 hours to improve your logo design before delivering it to your client.
  • Do a Self-Evaluation by filling out the Rubric. Put your name on it. Deliver to instructor or the Inbox on the countertop.
  • Publish your final Creative Blitz Logo screenshot to your Behance portfolio. Write a reflection in Behance to explain what you wanted to do for your target audience and why you made the design choices you did.
    • Why did you choose the color scheme, etc.? Refer to the Graphic Design Principles to discuss your choices using some of these industry terms: balance, contrast, unity, variety, emphasis, line, movement, rhythm, pattern, etc.
    • Mention the workflow you used: brainstorming, researching, gathering resources, the software you used, getting feedback from peers, refining the design.
    • Also, do a quick (1-3 minutes) IShowU video discussing your choices and how you designed the logo. Provide a link to the video. Here’s the process for doing this:
      • Create a Vimeo account.
      • Go to the Blue Room computer with a microphone.
      • Log into your Behance portfolio and your Vimeo account.
      • With IShowU HD open, make sure the “Output Video” option on upper left-hand area of the program window says “Vimeo”.
      • Click the IShowU Edit menu and choose “Edit Capture Area” and follow the onscreen directions to drag the box so that only the window of the browser showing your Behance project is showing inside the box.
      • Click on the IShowU shortcut in the upper-right-hand info panel of the Mac. Click the little red round “Capture” button to record your video. When you are finished, click that shortcut menu again and click “Finish Recording”. Then, drag the thumbnail preview image to the desktop and rename it with your name in the filename. Keep this file on this computer until you’re sure your video has uploaded. You may want to check on it 1 day later.
      • Upload your file to Vimeo. It may take a while.
      • Get the link from Vimeo and post it in your Behance portfolio.
  • Payday–Schedule a time for final review/delivery/payment from the client (your instructor in this case!), and submit your work for a Quack Award here: https://www.ftanimation.com/creative-blitz/submit-for-a-quack-award/.
