Ways to Get the Above and Beyond Point on a Status Report

This can allow you to get bonus/extra credit on your Professionalism grade! 🙂

Everyone is unique and has different skills and talents. Professional Enhancement is something that causes you to “stretch” to become a better person and/or employee, improve academically, improve leadership skills, gain valuable experience, etc. To fulfill the requirements of the Professionalism component of your grade, you will complete activities that help you grow as an individual.

You could do this by participating in a community service project, being a leader, etc. The same type of activity should not be repeated with the anticipation of receiving credit multiple times without prior approval of instructor. The following are examples of opportunities that can be used to satisfy the requirements for this course:

1. Serve in a leadership capacity:

a. BPA Executive Council member

b. Committee member

c. Team meetings presentations

d. Superintendent’s Leadership Academy

e. Program Representative/Recruiter/Ambassador

f. Mentor another student

g. “Tweet a Tip”/Post to Classmates’ Corner

2. Enhance your academic/professional/creative/personal skills:

a. Educational Enhancement Center

b. Work Keys/MySkillsTutor Initiative – 1 hr weekly—reports generated on Thursdays.

c. Creative Blitz Challenges (Quarterly – required)

d. Participation in Forums, share resources, peer mentoring

 3. Participate in a BPA competitive event

4. Complete a collaborative project working with a team of students.

5. Participate in a community service event, workshop, guest speaker event, etc.

6. Participate in a BPA Fundraiser

7. Perfect Attendance for the quarter/semester/year.

8. Achieve an industry certification (Apple, Adobe, etc.)

9. Participate in a pre-approved internship, workshop, etc.

10. Participate in a community service project/act as a program Ambassador

11. Other activity or project pre-approved by instructor

You will need to complete several activities that make you “stretch” to become a better person—each quarter. To receive credit for your efforts, you include them in your Weekly Status Report, due at the end of each week. Be sure to list supporting details to receive credit.
