Grades

Your 9 Weeks and Semester grades that are sent to the high school are made up of 3 things divided evenly:

  • 1. Progress Rate. Weekly Hrs of Work Completed
  • 2. Weekly Professionalism Grade on a scale of 1 to 4
  • 3. Technical Skills (Creative Blitz Projects + Technical Evaluations)

Let’s go over how these three kinds of grades are taken…

1. Weekly Progress Rate. Weekly Hrs of Work Completed

Each week, you will work through the lessons assigned and track which lessons you’ve completed. You’ll turn in your work through the Classcraft lessons when they are completed, and on Fridays, you’ll report what you completed that week. The following week, you will show me what you did and we will discuss your Status Report. I will enter the total hours of credit you earned into the gradebook. So, the amount of work you complete each week averaged together is 1/3 of your grade.

2. Weekly Professionalism Grade (Scale of 1 to 4)

When you turn in your Status Report on Fridays, you’ll do a self assessment on yourself for the week. You will give yourself between 1 and 4 points — if you go above and beyond, you can earn a bonus point. Here is the scale…

#1

Communication Point _____

Did you communicate professionally online and in class when you’re supposed to (weekly chat, peer reviews, status report)? And do you communicate in a helpful manner with others?

#2

Participation, Team Player Point _____

Did you participate (Wednesday Workshop, Classcraft, etc.) and make the classroom a great place for you and your classmates to learn? AND Did you get WorkKeys (careerready101.com)  completed by Friday?

#3

Work Ethic Point _____

Did you take pride in getting your work done CORRECTLY and ON TIME? Did you ask for help if needed and also try to solve issues (if any) yourself? Do you work hard during the whole class period?

#4

Progress/Time Management Point _____

Did you complete at least 85% (normally approx. 12.75 hrs) of your to-do’s for the week?

#5

BONUS…Above and Beyond Point _____

Did you go above and beyond this week?

I will also assess you in these areas and enter a grade for you in the gradebook each week for your Professionalism.

3. Technical Skills (Creative Blitz Projects + Technical Evaluations)

I will evaluate you periodically and ask you to demonstrate technical skills. You will be given a list of skills and you should prepare some examples to show me you know how to do these things. Your big Creative Blitz projects will also be evaluated for your new technical skills.

Transcripted Course Grades

The grade you receive on your Creative Blitz project at the end of each course is transcripted as your Francis Tuttle grade for that course. These grades are not provided to the high schools. There is one grade for each Career Tech course you are working on in your career major.
